In case you missed the announcement in last month's newsletter, ManyBabies is launching a new project on Neonatal Imitation!
We hosted the first of two planning workshops via Zoom earlier this month. Experts in the field got together to share their work and begin discussing what the project will look like. A recording of the workshop is available here.
The second planning workshop will be held on July 28 (see time above and on the MB calendar). We'll be hearing from more experts and continuing the conversation started in the first workshop. All ManyBabies members are invited to attend. Please register for the event to receive a Zoom link.

MB2: Theory of Mind
The team is making final preparations for the start of data collection for the first large-scale eye tracking study with toddlers. Details of the study can be found in this preprint, and more info about data collection is coming soon via the MB2 listserv (subscribe).
Contact Tobi Schuwerk with questions or to get involved.

MB3: Rule Learning
The MB3 Stage 1 Registered Report received an In Principle Acceptance from Developmental Science! Congrats to the team on reaching this milestone! Details of the study are in the final ‘IPA’ report, and the lab manual.
This means we can now move forward with data collection. Earlier this month we had two data preparation kick-off meetings (slides, recording1, recording2). We welcome labs to participate in data collection, please sign up here! If you have any questions or would like to contribute in another way, email Ingmar Visser.

MB4: Social Evaluation
MB4 is looking for labs to sign up for data collection! You can sign up at this link. Participating labs are encouraged to review the MB4 Big Manual and begin preparations for data collection (e.g., obtain ethics approval, pilot testing). Francis Yuen hosted a kick-start Q&A session at ICIS earlier this month (view the recording). We will be announcing major updates on the MB4 listserv in the coming weeks (subscribe). If you have any questions, please contact Kelsey Lucca or Francis Yuen.

MB-AtHome: Online Infant Data Collection
The project has received ethics approval for testing infants using the Lookit platform. Once the final step of launching multilingual translations of the platform is completed, we’ll be ready to start collecting data in the first sub-project investigating visual preference! If you can help with translations, please contact Sho Tsuji.

call for data analysts &
code reviewers
ManyBabies projects offer many opportunities for data analysis contributions. We welcome contributions to data analysis at all levels, from basic code review/error checking to leadership on analysis teams. Expertise in the specific project topic is not required to contribute to data analysis. Working on one of the analysis teams is a great opportunity to become familiar with these large datasets that also provide opportunities for secondary data analysis and many-analysts type projects.
Please get in touch if you'd like to contribute to active analysis efforts!
