Contribute to FORRT's
Replications & Reversals project

FORRT’s “Replications & Reversals” project aims to collate successful replications, failed replications with null findings, and failed replications with reversals in the social sciences. They are in need of info about developmental replication efforts!
You can find more info on how to contribute to the project here.

project updates

MB1T: Test-Retest spin-off

The manuscript has been submitted to Developmental Science and is currently under review! The preprint can be found here. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the manuscript!

We are in the midst of our data collection phase. In parallel, the MB2 analysis team is preparing the analysis pipeline (3 hackathon days so far). Interested in joining the analysis team? Contact Tobias Schuwerk.

We are very excited to share that several labs have been ‘greenlighted’ and that hence MB3 data collection has officially started! The official starting date for data collection has been set to January 1, 2023 and the tentative end date is therefore December 31, 2023.

For data collecting labs:

  • The data validator is now online and ready to use! Instructions are in the MB3 lab manual.
  • If your lab has the flexibility of choosing between different set-ups, please consider HPP.
  • We are planning two MB3 check-in meetings on March 7 for labs to ask questions and discuss progress. (check the listserv or #mb3-general channel on the MB Slack for more info)

MB3 Longitudinal & Test-Retest Spin-off

We are very excited to announce the launch of an MB3 spin-off project

In a first step, we aim to answer the question to what extent the methods from the MB3 project are suitable to measure individual differences in infants' rule learning abilities by investigating test-retest reliability. In a second step, we aim to investigate the relationship between infants' rule learning abilities and their later developing language acquisition skills.

We are looking for enthusiastic people and labs who would like to join this project! If you are interested in joining the design team or contributing in other ways, please contact Anna Exner.

MB5: Hunter & Ames Model of Infant Looking Preference

The Stage 1 Registered Report is under review at Nature Human Behaviour (read the preprint). Thank you to everyone who contributed to the manuscript!

MB6: Neonatal Imitation

The first team-wide MB6 meeting will be held soon, and all are welcome! Make sure you are subscribed to the project listserv to receive scheduling information.

MB-Demographics:

Our manuscript has been submitted to Developmental Psychology. You can read the preprint here. Thank you to all who contributed to the project!

MB-ManyWebcams:

We finished our manuscript and submitted it. The preprint can be found here

TL;DR: remote web-based eye-tracking works. Downsides: large drop-out rate and less precise than in-lab eye-tracking. Upsides: it is open-source and facilitates recruitment of larger and more diverse samples.
